Course descriptions, Lower Intermediate

Lower Intermediate 1 to 5 (15 hrs, 10 weeks each)
These are for students who have completed the Elementary and Upper-Elementary courses, or at least 60 hrs of Spanish. The objectives are:

• Get a grip on verb tenses – preterite, imperfect, future, conditional and present subjunctive. These are practised in the following useful contexts:
• Situations connected with daily life such as activities, interests and past experiences, describing situations, talking about and reacting to others, obligation and necessity, telling a story, asking for things, physical states, feelings.
• Textbooks: ELE Inicial 2, Libro del Alumno (1 CD) (SM $72), ELE Inicial 2, Cuaderno de ejercicios (1 CD) ($44). Available at El Patio.

Course descriptions, Upper Intermediate

Upper Intermediate 1 to 6 (15 hrs, 10 weeks each)
These are for students who have completed around 2 years of Spanish. We work further on grammatical items such as the use of different verb tenses, the subjunctive, description and narration orally and in writing, as well as understanding relatively difficult texts.

• Textbooks: ELE Intermedio, Libro del Alumno (1 CD) (SM, $70), ELE Intermedio, Cuaderno de ejercicios ($38). El Patio stocks these texts.
